Job Overview

The Marine Logistics Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the movement of cargo through the Port of Uyo and associated inland transport corridors. This position acts as the central point of contact between ship operators, port authorities, customs officials, and inland carriers to ensure seamless cargo flow, compliance with regulations, and optimal utilization of resources. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders in a fast‑paced environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and schedule vessel arrivals, berthing slots, and cargo handling operations at the Uyo port terminal.
  • Coordinate with inland trucking and rail partners to arrange timely pick‑up and delivery of containers.
  • Monitor cargo status in real‑time using Maersk’s digital platforms and provide updates to customers and internal teams.
  • Ensure compliance with Nigerian maritime regulations, customs procedures, and safety standards.
  • Prepare and submit accurate documentation for import/export clearances, including bills of lading, manifests, and customs declarations.
  • Resolve operational issues such as delays, equipment failures, or documentation discrepancies promptly.
  • Collaborate with the sales and customer service teams to address client inquiries and improve service levels.
  • Analyze performance metrics and generate reports on turnaround times, container dwell times, and cost efficiencies.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing bottlenecks and enhancing operational throughput.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of maritime logistics, port operations, and customs procedures in Nigeria.
  • Proficiency with logistics management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills for stakeholder management.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and drive process improvements.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Maritime Studies, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as Certified International Trade Professional (CITP) or equivalent are advantageous but not mandatory.

Experience

Applicants should have 3‑5 years of hands‑on experience in maritime logistics, port coordination, or related supply chain functions. Experience with containerized cargo, intermodal transport, and familiarity with Nigerian port authorities will be highly valued.

Salary
