Job Overview
The Quality Assurance Engineer will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all pharmaceutical products manufactured at the Enugu site meet stringent regulatory standards and internal quality benchmarks. Reporting to the QA Manager, the engineer will develop, implement, and monitor quality systems, conduct risk assessments, and lead continuous improvement initiatives. This position is essential for maintaining product integrity, safeguarding patient safety, and upholding Pfizer’s reputation for excellence. Candidates will engage with cross‑functional teams, including Production, Validation, and Regulatory Affairs, to drive compliance and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and maintain quality assurance procedures, SOPs, and work instructions in line with GMP and local regulatory requirements.
- Conduct internal audits, gap analyses, and corrective‑and‑preventive action (CAPA) investigations to ensure continuous compliance.
- Collaborate with Production and Engineering teams to design and execute validation protocols for equipment, processes, and cleaning procedures.
- Perform risk assessments using tools such as FMEA and HACCP to identify potential quality issues and implement mitigation strategies.
- Lead investigations of product deviations, out‑of‑specification results, and customer complaints, providing thorough root‑cause analysis and effective resolutions.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation and ensure accurate record‑keeping for all quality activities.
- Support regulatory inspections and audits by preparing documentation, facilitating site tours, and addressing auditor queries.
- Drive continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing product quality, process efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of GMP, ISO 9001, and pharmaceutical quality systems.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis tools and quality software (e.g., Minitab, QMS).
- Excellent problem‑solving abilities with a data‑driven approach.
- Effective communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of product safety.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biotechnology, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma Green Belt are advantageous.
Experience
Applicants must have 3‑5 years of hands‑on experience in quality assurance within a regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. Experience with process validation, audit management, and regulatory submissions is highly valued.
Salary
