Job Overview

The Petroleum Production Engineer will be a key member of the Production Engineering department, responsible for optimizing oil and gas extraction processes, ensuring operational efficiency, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and environmental stewardship. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute production plans for oil and gas fields to achieve optimal output and reservoir performance.
  • Monitor well performance using real‑time data, production logging, and surface facilities analysis.
  • Identify and resolve production bottlenecks, equipment failures, and flow assurance challenges.
  • Collaborate with drilling and completions teams to design well interventions, workovers, and stimulation programs.
  • Implement artificial lift systems, enhanced oil recovery techniques, and other optimization measures.
  • Prepare technical reports, production forecasts, and cost‑benefit analyses for senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to field personnel.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of petroleum production engineering principles, well testing, and artificial lift technologies.
  • Proficiency in industry software such as PETREL, Prosper, and production monitoring tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a data‑driven mindset.
  • Effective communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration and stakeholder reporting.
  • Ability to work under pressure in remote field locations while maintaining safety standards.
  • Project management experience and familiarity with cost control practices.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as PMP, API, or relevant postgraduate qualifications are advantageous.

Experience

Candidates must possess a minimum of five to seven years of hands‑on experience in petroleum production engineering within upstream oil and gas operations. Experience with offshore or onshore fields in Nigeria or comparable environments is highly valued.

Salary
