Job Overview
The Marine Operations Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the technical performance, maintenance, and compliance of Maersk’s vessels operating out of the Calabar port. This role involves close collaboration with ship captains, technical crews, and shore‑based engineering teams to ensure optimal vessel performance, adherence to international maritime regulations, and implementation of best‑practice engineering solutions. The engineer will also lead projects aimed at improving fuel efficiency, reducing emissions, and integrating digital monitoring tools. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze vessel performance data to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for propulsion, auxiliary, and safety systems.
- Ensure compliance with IMO regulations, Nigerian maritime laws, and company safety standards.
- Coordinate with shipyards and third‑party contractors for major repairs and dry‑dock activities.

- Support the integration of digital twin and condition‑based monitoring technologies.
- Prepare technical reports and present findings to senior management and stakeholders.

Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of marine propulsion systems, electrical distribution, and HVAC on board vessels.
- Proficiency in maritime software tools such as NAPA, DNV GL ShipManager, or equivalent.
- Excellent problem‑solving abilities and analytical thinking.
- Effective communication skills for interfacing with multinational crews and regulatory bodies.
- Project management experience, including budgeting and timeline control.

Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a closely related discipline from an accredited university is required. Professional certifications such as STCW, Marine Engineer Officer (MEO), or equivalent are highly desirable.
