Job Overview

The Automotive Production Planner will be responsible for coordinating the end‑to‑end production schedule for Toyota’s vehicle assembly lines in Minna. This includes translating demand forecasts into actionable production plans, optimizing material flow, and ensuring that manufacturing targets are met with high quality and efficiency. The role requires close collaboration with supply chain, engineering, quality, and logistics teams to align resources, mitigate risks, and continuously improve processes. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and communicate detailed weekly and monthly production schedules based on sales forecasts and inventory levels.

• Monitor production performance metrics, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to meet on‑time delivery targets.
• Collaborate with engineering to incorporate new model introductions and process changes into the production plan.
• Conduct capacity analysis and recommend adjustments to workforce or equipment to optimize throughput.
• Prepare regular reports for senior management highlighting plan adherence, variances, and improvement opportunities.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards throughout the planning process.

Required Skills

• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to liaise across functions.
• Deep understanding of automotive manufacturing processes and production planning principles.
• Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data visualization tools.
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Production Management, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications in production planning, supply chain management, or Lean Six Sigma are advantageous.

Experience

Minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in production planning or scheduling within an automotive or high‑volume manufacturing environment. Prior exposure to Toyota Production System (TPS) principles is highly valued.
