Job Overview

The Smart Manufacturing Systems Engineer will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of intelligent manufacturing solutions for GE Renewable Energy’s production facilities in Nigeria. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop AI models for predictive maintenance, process optimization, and quality assurance.
  • Collaborate with production engineers to retrofit existing equipment with automation solutions.
  • Lead pilot projects for digital twins and virtual commissioning of new production lines.
  • Analyze data streams to identify bottlenecks, reduce waste, and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, industry regulations, and GE’s internal quality protocols.
  • Provide technical training and mentorship to plant personnel on new technologies.
  • Prepare detailed reports and dashboards for senior management to track KPI improvements.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in PLC programming, SCADA systems, and industrial communication protocols (OPC-UA, MQTT).
  • Strong knowledge of AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Azure ML.
  • Experience with IoT platforms, edge devices, and cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Solid understanding of mechanical and electrical systems in manufacturing environments.
  • Excellent problem‑solving abilities and data‑driven decision‑making.
  • Effective communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.
  • Project management experience with Agile or Lean methodologies.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. Advanced certifications in Automation, AI, or IoT are highly desirable and will be considered an asset during the selection process.

Experience
