Job Overview

The Telecom Regulatory Affairs Specialist will play a pivotal role in shaping Airtel Nigeria’s interaction with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and other regulatory bodies. This position is responsible for monitoring regulatory developments, preparing submissions, and ensuring that the company’s products, services, and operations comply with all applicable laws and standards. The specialist will act as a liaison between internal stakeholders and external regulators, providing strategic guidance to mitigate risks and capitalize on emerging opportunities. Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze telecommunications regulations, policies, and guidelines issued by the NCC and other relevant authorities.
• Prepare and submit regulatory filings, license applications, and compliance reports in a timely and accurate manner.
• Advise internal teams on regulatory requirements affecting product development, network deployment, pricing, and marketing.
• Develop and maintain a regulatory compliance framework, ensuring alignment with national and international standards.
• Represent Airtel Nigeria in meetings, hearings, and consultations with regulatory bodies and industry associations.
• Collaborate with legal, finance, and operations departments to assess the impact of regulatory changes on business strategies.
• Lead internal audits and gap analyses to identify compliance risks and implement corrective actions.
• Prepare briefing notes and policy recommendations for senior management and the Board of Directors.
• Support the development of corporate advocacy strategies to influence favorable regulatory outcomes.
• Maintain a repository of regulatory documents, correspondence, and compliance records.

Required Skills

• In‑depth knowledge of Nigerian telecommunications law, licensing regimes, and spectrum management.
• Strong analytical and research abilities with a keen eye for detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for drafting submissions and presenting to regulators.
• Ability to interpret complex legal texts and translate them into actionable business guidance.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and regulatory management software.

Education

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, Public Policy, or a related discipline. A Master’s degree or professional certification in telecommunications law, compliance, or regulatory affairs is highly desirable. Continuous professional development through workshops, seminars, and industry conferences is encouraged.

Experience

Applicants must have a minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in regulatory affairs within the telecommunications sector, preferably with exposure to the Nigerian regulatory environment. Experience working directly with the NCC or similar regulatory agencies is a strong advantage.

Salary
