Job Overview
The Cloud Security Architect will lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of security architectures for AWS cloud services used by enterprise clients in Nigeria and the broader West African region. Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement robust security architectures for AWS services, including Identity and Access Management (IAM), encryption, network segmentation, and threat detection.
- Conduct security assessments, penetration testing, and vulnerability management for client workloads hosted on AWS.
- Develop security policies, standards, and guidelines aligned with NDPR, GDPR, and industry‑specific compliance frameworks.
- Collaborate with solution architects and development teams to integrate security controls into CI/CD pipelines and DevOps processes.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior security engineers and consultants.
- Engage with customers to understand their security requirements, perform risk analyses, and propose tailored mitigation strategies.
- Stay current with emerging threats, cloud security trends, and AWS service updates, translating knowledge into actionable recommendations.
- Prepare detailed security architecture documentation, whitepapers, and presentation decks for internal and external stakeholders.
Required Skills
- Deep expertise in AWS security services such as GuardDuty, Security Hub, Macie, and KMS.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, firewalls, VPNs, and zero‑trust architectures.
- Hands‑on experience with security frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, CIS) and regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, PowerShell) for automation of security controls.
- Excellent problem‑solving abilities and the capacity to think strategically about risk.
- Effective communication skills to convey complex security concepts to technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Security – Specialty, CISSP, or CISM are highly desirable.
Education
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline is required. Advanced degrees or specialized training in cloud security will be considered an advantage.
Experience
Applicants should have 5 to 8 years of progressive experience in cloud security architecture, preferably with a focus on AWS environments. Prior experience delivering security solutions for large enterprises or government agencies in Nigeria or the broader African market is highly valued.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from NGN 3,500,000 to NGN 5,000,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition to base salary, the role includes performance‑based bonuses, stock options, and a comprehensive benefits suite.
