Job Overview

The Governance and Transparency Officer will lead initiatives that strengthen institutional integrity, promote accountability, and enhance public sector performance across Nigeria. Reporting to the Senior Governance Advisor, the officer will collaborate with ministries, agencies, and development partners to design policy frameworks, conduct oversight assessments, and facilitate capacity‑building workshops. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement governance and anti‑corruption strategies for UNDP‑funded programmes.
• Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and integrity audits in collaboration with partner ministries.
• Facilitate stakeholder consultations, workshops and training sessions on transparency best practices.
• Prepare policy briefs, analytical reports and recommendations for senior decision‑makers.
• Monitor compliance with UNDP’s internal standards and external regulatory requirements.
• Support the design of performance indicators and data collection tools to track governance outcomes.
• Engage with civil society, media and international donors to promote open government initiatives.
• Contribute to the preparation of project proposals and funding applications that emphasize good governance.

Education

A Master’s degree in Public Administration, Economics, Political Science, Development Studies, or a related discipline is required. Candidates with additional certifications in anti‑corruption, governance, or public finance will be given preference.

Experience

Applicants must have a minimum of five to seven years of professional experience in governance, public policy, anti‑corruption, or related fields. Experience working with international development agencies, government ministries, or NGOs in Nigeria is highly desirable.

Salary
