Job Overview
The Port Operations Manager will lead the day‑to‑day activities of the Lagos Port Complex, ensuring seamless vessel handling, cargo movement, and terminal efficiency. Reporting to the Regional Operations Director, the incumbent will coordinate cross‑functional teams, oversee compliance with international maritime regulations, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate all terminal operations, including vessel berthing, cargo handling, and yard management.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as berth productivity, turnaround time, and equipment utilization, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure compliance with International Maritime Organization (IMO) standards, Nigerian Port Authority regulations, and DP World safety protocols.
- Lead a multidisciplinary team of supervisors, technicians, and support staff, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Develop and manage operational budgets, controlling costs while maintaining service quality.
- Collaborate with commercial, logistics, and customer service departments to align operational plans with business objectives.
- Implement digital tools and data analytics to enhance operational visibility and decision‑making.
- Prepare regular reports for senior management, highlighting performance trends, risks, and opportunities.
