Job Overview

The Cloud Platform Reliability Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the high availability, performance, and scalability of Google Cloud services hosted in the West Africa region. Working closely with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams, product managers, and software developers, you will design, implement, and operate monitoring, alerting, and incident response frameworks that keep critical workloads running smoothly. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated monitoring and alerting solutions for Google Cloud services.
  • Lead incident response activities, conduct root‑cause analysis, and implement preventive measures.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define service level objectives (SLOs) and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Optimize system performance and capacity planning to support growing workloads.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure‑as‑code scripts using Terraform, Ansible, or similar tools.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in reliability engineering.
  • Participate in on‑call rotations and ensure timely resolution of production issues.

Required Skills

  • Strong proficiency in Linux/Unix systems and networking concepts.
  • Expertise in cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Programming/scripting skills in Python, Go, or Bash.
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Stackdriver, Prometheus, or Grafana.
  • Knowledge of container orchestration (Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Excellent problem‑solving abilities and analytical mindset.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications such as Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect or Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.

Experience

Applicants should have a minimum of five to seven years of experience in site reliability engineering, cloud operations, or systems engineering roles.
