As a Digital Forestry Systems Analyst with The Nature Conservancy, you will play a critical role in supporting our conservation efforts by analyzing and interpreting data related to forest ecosystems and developing strategies for sustainable forest management.
Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Digital Forestry Systems Analyst to join our team in Iseyin, Nigeria. The successful candidate will have a strong background in forestry, environmental science, or a related field, and experience working with geospatial data and analysis tools.
The ideal candidate will be able to analyze and interpret complex data sets, develop and implement data-driven solutions, and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels. A strong understanding of environmental sustainability principles and practices is essential, as is the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
As a Digital Forestry Systems Analyst with The Nature Conservancy, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from forest conservation and restoration to sustainable land use planning and community engagement. You will also have the chance to collaborate with a diverse team of experts, including foresters, ecologists, and conservation biologists.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and interpret geospatial data related to forest ecosystems, including satellite imagery, lidar data, and field observations.
- Develop and implement data-driven solutions for sustainable forest management, including forest inventory analysis, forest health monitoring, and forest planning.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including local communities, governments, and other conservation organizations, to develop and implement conservation projects.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including technical reports, presentations, and meetings.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in forestry and environmental sustainability.
Required Skills
- Strong background in forestry, environmental science, or a related field.
- Experience working with geospatial data and analysis tools, including ArcGIS, QGIS, and R.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets and develop data-driven solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong understanding of environmental sustainability principles and practices.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Experience
5-7 years of experience in forestry, environmental science, or a related field, with a strong background in geospatial data analysis and interpretation.
Salary
600,000 – 800,000 SSP per annum.
