Job Overview

The Sustainability Procurement Specialist will lead the integration of sustainable practices into Unilever Nigeria’s sourcing strategies. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement sustainable procurement policies that align with Unilever’s global standards and local regulatory requirements.
• Conduct supplier assessments focusing on environmental impact, labor practices, and ethical compliance.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to embed sustainability criteria into RFPs, contracts, and supplier scorecards.
• Identify and qualify new suppliers that demonstrate innovative sustainable solutions and cost efficiencies.
• Monitor and report on key sustainability metrics, such as carbon emissions, waste reduction, and resource efficiency, within the procurement function.
• Lead training sessions for internal stakeholders on sustainable sourcing best practices.
• Manage risk assessments related to supply chain disruptions caused by environmental factors.
• Support the development of circular economy initiatives, including recycling and up‑cycling of packaging materials.
• Engage with industry forums and NGOs to stay abreast of emerging sustainability trends and regulations.
• Prepare detailed reports for senior leadership highlighting progress, challenges, and opportunities in sustainable procurement.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of sustainable sourcing principles, ESG frameworks, and relevant Nigerian regulations.
• Excellent analytical abilities with proficiency in data‑driven decision making.
• Effective negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
• Project management expertise with the ability to lead cross‑functional initiatives.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, for stakeholder engagement.
• Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.

Education

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Environmental Science, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as CPSM, CIPS, or ESG‑related credentials are advantageous.

Experience

Salary
