Job Overview
The Smart Grid Implementation Lead will spearhead the design, deployment, and optimization of advanced grid technologies for Schneider Electric’s clients in the Niger Delta region. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, design, and execution of smart grid projects, including advanced metering infrastructure, distribution automation, and demand‑response programs.
- Coordinate with utility companies, regulators, and local authorities to secure permits, align standards, and ensure compliance with national energy policies.
- Develop detailed project schedules, budgets, and resource plans, monitoring progress against milestones and adjusting strategies as needed.
- Oversee system integration, testing, and commissioning activities, guaranteeing performance targets for reliability, efficiency, and cybersecurity.
- Manage multidisciplinary teams of engineers, consultants, and field technicians, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Conduct technical and financial feasibility studies, preparing comprehensive reports and presentations for senior management and clients.
- Implement data analytics and IoT solutions to enable real‑time grid monitoring, predictive maintenance, and optimization.
- Drive continuous improvement by incorporating lessons learned, industry best practices, and emerging technologies into project delivery.
- Represent Schneider Electric at industry conferences, workshops, and stakeholder forums to promote thought leadership in smart grid innovation.
Required Skills
- Strong expertise in power systems engineering, distribution automation, and smart grid architectures.
- Proficiency with industry standards such as IEC 61850, DNP3, and OpenADR.
- Hands‑on experience with SCADA, EMS, and advanced metering platforms.
- Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2) or equivalent experience.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a data‑driven mindset.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of influencing senior decision‑makers.
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary environments and lead cross‑cultural teams.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is a plus.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., Certified Energy Manager, PMP) will be considered an advantage.
Experience
Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive experience in power system design, smart grid project delivery, or utility automation. Prior experience working with Nigerian utilities or in the West African energy market is highly desirable.
Salary
