Job Overview

The Blockchain Compliance Officer will lead Mastercard Nigeria’s efforts to navigate the evolving regulatory landscape surrounding distributed ledger technologies, digital assets and cryptocurrency services. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and maintain a comprehensive blockchain compliance program that meets Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) guidelines and global best practices.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments for new blockchain products, tokenization projects and crypto‑related services.
  • Monitor regulatory developments in Nigeria and internationally, providing timely updates to senior management.
  • Collaborate with legal counsel to draft policies, terms of service and user agreements for blockchain offerings.
  • Lead internal audits and third‑party assessments to verify adherence to anti‑money laundering (AML) and counter‑terrorist financing (CTF) requirements.
  • Provide training and guidance to product, engineering and sales teams on compliance obligations.
  • Prepare detailed compliance reports for regulators, auditors and internal stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory inquiries related to blockchain initiatives.

Required Skills

  • Deep understanding of blockchain technology, smart contracts and cryptocurrency ecosystems.
  • Extensive knowledge of Nigerian financial regulations, AML/CTF frameworks, and international standards such as FATF.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a data‑driven approach.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of translating complex regulatory concepts into actionable guidance.
  • Proficiency in drafting policies, procedures and compliance documentation.
  • Experience with regulatory technology (RegTech) tools and blockchain analytics platforms.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams in a fast‑paced environment.

Education

A bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, Computer Science or a related discipline is required. Advanced degrees (LLM, MBA) or professional certifications such as Certified Anti‑Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP) or blockchain‑specific credentials are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of five years of compliance experience within the financial services sector, with at least two years dedicated to blockchain, digital assets or fintech regulatory matters. Prior exposure to the Nigerian regulatory environment and experience working with central banks or financial supervisory authorities will be considered a strong advantage.

Salary

The role offers a competitive salary range of 3,000,000 to 5,000,000 SSP per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and long‑term incentive plans are also part of the compensation package.
