Job Overview

The Learning Experience Designer will collaborate with faculty, subject matter experts, and the IT department to design, develop, and implement engaging e‑learning content for undergraduate and postgraduate programs. This position is pivotal in translating complex academic material into interactive, learner‑centered digital experiences that meet international standards. The role involves conducting needs analyses, creating storyboards, developing multimedia assets, and ensuring compliance with accessibility guidelines. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive instructional analyses to identify learning objectives and target audience needs.
  • Design and develop interactive e‑learning modules using authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or similar platforms.
  • Collaborate with faculty to convert traditional curricula into engaging digital formats, including videos, simulations, quizzes, and gamified elements.
  • Ensure all content adheres to WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards and university branding guidelines.
  • Implement learning analytics to assess learner performance and recommend improvements.
  • Maintain a repository of reusable learning assets and templates for future course development.
  • Provide training and support to faculty on best practices in e‑learning design and technology integration.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends in educational technology and incorporate innovative solutions into ABU’s e‑learning strategy.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in e‑learning authoring tools (Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, Lectora, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM, Bloom’s Taxonomy).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with academic staff.
  • Ability to create multimedia assets (audio, video, graphics) or coordinate with production teams.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (Moodle, Blackboard, Canvas) and LMS integration.
  • Analytical mindset with experience using learning analytics dashboards.
  • Project management skills to handle multiple concurrent design projects.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high‑quality, engaging learning experiences.

Education

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Education, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., ATD, CPLP) are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.

Experience

Applicants should possess at least three to five years of professional experience designing and developing e‑learning solutions for higher education or corporate training environments. Demonstrated experience in a university setting is preferred, though equivalent experience in a reputable training organization will also be considered.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary range of NGN 2,500,000 to NGN 3,500,000 per annum, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Additional performance‑based incentives may be provided.
