Job Overview
The Marine Renewable Energy Engineer will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of offshore renewable energy systems, focusing on wave, tidal, and floating solar technologies. This role involves close collaboration with cross‑functional teams, including project finance, environmental compliance, and operations, to ensure that projects meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards. The engineer will be based in Uromi, providing a strategic location to support coastal project sites across the Gulf of Guinea. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the engineering design of wave and tidal energy converters, including structural analysis, hydrodynamic modeling, and power conversion systems.

- Develop detailed project specifications, technical drawings, and procurement packages for offshore components.
- Oversee installation, commissioning, and performance testing of marine renewable assets, troubleshooting technical issues on‑site and remotely.
- Collaborate with the finance team to create cost‑benefit analyses, lifecycle cost models, and risk assessments for new projects.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of global marine renewable technologies and integrate best practices into GE Nigeria’s project portfolio.
- Prepare technical reports, progress updates, and stakeholder presentations for internal and external audiences.
- Support the development of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) procedures specific to offshore renewable installations.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in marine engineering software such as OrcaFlex, ANSYS AQWA, or DNV Sesam.
- Strong understanding of renewable energy conversion principles, especially wave, tidal, and floating solar systems.
- Experience with project management tools and multidisciplinary coordination.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a data‑driven approach to performance optimization.
- Effective communication skills for interfacing with clients, regulators, and internal teams.
- Ability to work in challenging offshore environments and travel to project sites as required.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., Certified Renewable Energy Professional, DNV‑GL certification) are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.
Experience
Candidates must have a minimum of five to seven years of professional experience in marine or offshore engineering, with at least three years dedicated to renewable energy projects.
