Reporting to the Head of Precision Agriculture, the incumbent will collaborate with cross‑functional teams including agronomists, software engineers, and field specialists to translate complex data sets into user‑friendly decision support tools. This position plays a critical role in Syngenta’s mission to deliver data‑driven solutions that enhance yield, reduce input waste, and promote sustainable farming practices across the country.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop APIs and data pipelines that deliver real‑time analytics to Syngenta’s mobile and web platforms for farmer use.
  • Conduct field trials in collaboration with local farms to test model performance and refine algorithms based on real‑world feedback.
  • Prepare technical documentation, research papers, and presentations for internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies in AI, remote sensing, and agronomy to continuously improve analytical capabilities.
  • Support the creation of training materials and workshops for farmers and extension officers on using precision agriculture tools.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis and machine learning (TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit‑learn).
  • Experience with geospatial data processing (GIS, Google Earth Engine, QGIS).
  • Strong understanding of agronomic principles, crop physiology, and farming practices in tropical environments.
  • Ability to work with large, heterogeneous datasets and perform data cleaning, feature engineering, and model evaluation.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
  • Project management experience, including timeline planning and stakeholder coordination.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) for scalable data processing.

Education

A Master’s degree in Data Science, Agronomy, Agricultural Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is required. Candidates with a Ph.D. or additional certifications in remote sensing, GIS, or agricultural analytics will be given preference.
