Job Overview
The Railway Systems Integration Engineer will play a pivotal role in designing, testing, and integrating advanced signalling, communication and control systems for Alstom’s railway projects in Nigeria. Reporting to the Lead Systems Engineer, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software components, adhering to international standards and local regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute integration plans for signalling, train control and communication systems.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors and internal stakeholders to align technical specifications.
- Conduct system validation, functional testing and fault analysis to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Prepare detailed integration documentation, test reports and technical manuals.
- Support commissioning activities on site, providing on‑the‑ground troubleshooting and optimisation.
- Collaborate with project managers to track milestones, budgets and risk mitigation strategies.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge‑sharing initiatives within the team.
Required Skills
- Strong proficiency in railway signalling protocols (ETCS, CBTC, PTC) and communication standards.
- Hands‑on experience with PLC programming, SCADA systems and HMI development.
- Excellent problem‑solving abilities and analytical mindset.
- Effective communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.
- Project management fundamentals and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with Nigerian railway regulations and international safety standards (EN, IEC).
Education
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics or a closely related discipline is required. Advanced certifications in railway signalling or systems integration are highly desirable.
Experience
Candidates should possess 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in railway systems integration, signalling design, or related fields, preferably within large‑scale infrastructure projects. Experience with Alstom or other major rail manufacturers is an advantage.
Salary
The competitive remuneration package ranges from NGN 2,500,000 to NGN 3,500,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and allowances are included.
