Job Overview
The Senior Reliability Engineer will lead reliability engineering initiatives for GE Healthcare Nigeria’s portfolio of medical devices, ensuring that products meet the highest standards of performance, safety, and durability. This role involves developing reliability test plans, conducting failure analysis, and collaborating with cross‑functional teams to implement design improvements. The engineer will work closely with product development, manufacturing, quality, and field service teams to drive reliability‑centered design practices and support the company’s mission of delivering reliable healthcare solutions to patients across Nigeria. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute reliability test programs for new and existing medical devices, including accelerated life testing, environmental stress screening, and reliability growth testing.
- Perform root cause failure analysis using statistical methods, fault tree analysis, and design of experiments to identify and mitigate reliability issues.
- Collaborate with design engineers to integrate reliability‑centered design principles, such as FMEA, DFMEA, and design for reliability, into product development cycles.
- Maintain and update reliability databases, tracking field failure data, warranty claims, and corrective actions to drive continuous improvement.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior reliability engineers and cross‑functional teams on reliability best practices.
- Support regulatory submissions and compliance activities by preparing reliability documentation required by FDA, NAFDAC, and international standards.
- Lead reliability reviews and present findings to senior management, highlighting risk mitigation strategies and cost‑benefit analyses.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of reliability engineering methodologies, statistical analysis, and failure modes.
- Proficiency with reliability analysis tools such as Minitab, ReliaSoft, or JMP.
- Experience with medical device regulations (FDA 21 CFR Part 820, ISO 13485, NAFDAC).
- Excellent problem‑solving abilities and analytical thinking.
- Effective communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration and stakeholder presentations.
- Project management experience with the ability to prioritize multiple initiatives.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) are highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience in reliability engineering, preferably within the medical device or high‑tech manufacturing industry. Demonstrated experience in leading reliability programs and conducting failure analysis is essential.
Salary
