Job Overview

The Sustainability Packaging Engineer will design, develop, and implement eco‑friendly packaging solutions for PepsiCo’s beverage and snack portfolio in Nigeria. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement sustainable packaging designs that meet functional, regulatory, and cost requirements.
  • Conduct lifecycle assessments (LCA) and carbon footprint analyses for packaging materials.
  • Collaborate with R&D, supply chain, and marketing to align packaging innovations with brand strategy.
  • Lead pilot projects and scale‑up successful prototypes to full production.
  • Monitor global packaging trends and benchmark best practices to keep PepsiCo at the forefront of sustainability.
  • Ensure compliance with Nigerian packaging regulations and international standards.
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of packaging materials, especially recyclable and biodegradable options.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and LCA tools (SimaPro, GaBi).
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Project management experience with ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Understanding of supply chain logistics and cost optimization.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications in sustainability or packaging engineering are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of five years of experience in packaging engineering, preferably within the food & beverage sector, with a proven track record of delivering sustainable packaging solutions.

Salary

The competitive salary range for this role is NGN 2,500,000 – NGN 3,500,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based bonuses may be offered.
