Job Overview

This role is part of WorldFish Nigeria’s initiative to enhance sustainable fisheries practices along the Niger Delta coastline. The position requires a proactive professional to design and implement strategies that balance ecological preservation with economic development. The role involves field research, stakeholder engagement, and policy advocacy to ensure long-term marine resource sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on local fisheries ecosystems and identify conservation priorities.
  • Develop and implement sustainable fishing practices in collaboration with coastal communities.
  • Monitor marine biodiversity and assess the impact of fishing activities on ecosystems.
  • Facilitate training programs for fishers on eco-friendly techniques and regulations.
  • Collaborate with government agencies to draft marine conservation policies.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for stakeholders and funding partners.

Required Skills

  • Expertise in marine biology, fisheries management, or environmental science.
  • Strong analytical skills for data collection and ecosystem assessment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Proficiency in GIS mapping and environmental impact analysis.
  • Experience in project management and grant reporting.
  • Knowledge of Nigerian marine conservation laws and policies.

Education
