Job Overview

The Water Treatment Solutions Engineer will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of water treatment plants and related technologies for a diverse portfolio of clients in the Niger Delta and surrounding areas. Reporting to the Regional Engineering Manager, the engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including process engineers, project managers, and field technicians, to deliver high‑quality, cost‑effective solutions that meet stringent regulatory standards. This position plays a pivotal role in advancing Veolia’s mission to provide clean water and protect the environment, while also offering exposure to large‑scale projects, advanced treatment processes, and innovative digital monitoring tools. Candidates will engage with stakeholders ranging from government agencies to private oil and gas operators, ensuring that each solution is tailored to local conditions and sustainability objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed engineering designs for water treatment facilities, including process flow diagrams, equipment specifications, and control strategies.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, cost‑benefit analyses, and risk assessments for new projects and retrofits.
  • Lead on‑site commissioning, performance testing, and optimization of treatment processes such as coagulation‑flocculation, membrane filtration, and biological treatment.
  • Collaborate with procurement and construction teams to ensure timely delivery of equipment and adherence to project schedules.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for operational issues, leveraging data analytics and remote monitoring platforms.
  • Ensure compliance with Nigerian environmental regulations, ISO standards, and Veolia’s internal quality management systems.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports, client presentations, and documentation for regulatory submissions.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support continuous improvement initiatives across the engineering department.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes, chemical dosing, and advanced membrane technologies.
  • Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, HYSYS, or EPANET for design and simulation.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a data‑driven approach to process optimization.
  • Effective communication skills for interfacing with clients, regulators, and cross‑functional teams.
  • Project management experience, including budgeting, scheduling, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards in the Nigerian context.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. Advanced certifications in water treatment, such as a Certified Water Technologist (CWT) or equivalent, are highly desirable.

Experience

Applicants must have a minimum of five to seven years of hands‑on experience in the design, construction, or operation of water treatment plants. Experience within the oil and gas sector, industrial water reuse, or municipal water services in Nigeria or other emerging markets will be considered an advantage.

Salary

The competitive salary range for this role is between ₦2,500,000 and ₦3,500,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and allowances for transportation and professional development are also part of the total compensation package.
