Job Overview
This role is central to our mission to create a digital archive of Nigeria’s cultural heritage. The ideal candidate will bridge traditional knowledge with modern technology, ensuring that historical artifacts, oral histories, and indigenous practices are preserved for future generations. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to Nigeria’s cultural legacy while working with international heritage organizations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field research to document intangible cultural heritage (e.g., oral traditions, rituals, and crafts).
- Utilize 3D modeling and photogrammetry tools to digitize artifacts and historical sites.
- Collaborate with local communities to record and validate cultural narratives.
- Develop metadata standards for digital heritage archives.
- Coordinate with international partners for cross-border heritage preservation projects.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in digital archiving software (e.g., ArchiCAD, Adobe Creative Suite).
- Experience with 3D scanning and GIS mapping technologies.
- Strong understanding of cultural sensitivity and ethical documentation practices.
- Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
- Fluency in at least one local Nigerian language (e.g., Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo).
Education
Master’s Degree in Cultural Heritage, Digital Archiving, Anthropology, or related field. Additional certifications in heritage technology or digital preservation are highly advantageous.
Experience
3-5 years of experience in cultural heritage documentation, preferably with a focus on African heritage. Experience in digital archiving projects or community-based research is essential.
Salary
800,000 – 1,200,000 SSP annually, commensurate with experience.
