Job Overview
This role is ideal for a visionary professional passionate about leveraging digital tools to safeguard and promote cultural heritage. The Cultural Heritage Digital Strategist will lead initiatives to digitize historical artifacts, create interactive storytelling platforms, and develop global outreach campaigns that highlight Nigeria’s cultural narratives. This position aligns with the British Council’s mission to foster cross-cultural dialogue through technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement digital strategies for cultural heritage preservation projects.
- Collaborate with local communities, historians, and technologists to digitize artifacts and oral histories.
- Develop interactive digital platforms (websites, apps, VR/AR experiences) to showcase cultural heritage.
- Manage partnerships with international institutions for cross-border cultural exchange programs.
- Conduct workshops to train stakeholders in digital heritage management tools.
Required Skills
- Expertise in digital strategy, content creation, and project management.
- Proficiency in digital preservation tools (e.g., 3D modeling, GIS mapping).
- Strong understanding of Nigerian cultural heritage and global best practices.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Creative problem-solving and adaptability in dynamic environments.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Cultural Heritage, Digital Media, Museum Studies, or equivalent.
- Postgraduate qualification in Digital Innovation or Cultural Management is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years in cultural heritage, digital strategy, or related fields.
- Proven experience managing cross-disciplinary teams and international projects.
Salary
500,000 – 700,000 SSP per annum, commensurate with experience.
