Job Overview

The Smart Grid Solutions Manager will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of advanced grid technologies, including advanced metering infrastructure, demand response platforms, and distributed energy resources integration. This role collaborates closely with cross‑functional teams, utilities, and regulatory bodies to deliver resilient, data‑driven energy solutions that enhance grid reliability and efficiency.

As a key player in our Engineering & Innovation department, you will be responsible for translating customer needs into scalable solutions, overseeing pilot projects, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end‑to‑end smart grid solution design, from concept through deployment and post‑implementation support.
  • Coordinate with utilities, government agencies, and technology partners to align project objectives with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and manage pilot projects for advanced metering, demand response, and renewable integration.
  • Analyze grid performance data to identify optimization opportunities and drive continuous improvement.
  • Prepare technical proposals, cost‑benefit analyses, and business cases for senior leadership.
  • Mentor junior engineers and facilitate knowledge transfer across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ensure compliance with international standards such as IEC 61850, IEEE 1547, and local Nigerian regulations.

Required Skills

  • Deep expertise in power systems engineering, SCADA, and IEC 61850 communication protocols.
  • Proven experience with smart grid platforms, IoT devices, and data analytics tools.
  • Strong project management capabilities, including budgeting, scheduling, and risk mitigation.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business value propositions.
  • Proficiency in simulation software (e.g., DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP) and GIS tools.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as PMP, CEM, or IEC 61850 Specialist are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage.

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in power systems design, smart grid implementation, or utility‑scale energy projects. Experience working with Nigerian utilities or in the West African energy market is a strong plus.

Salary

The compensation package ranges from SSP 4,500,000 to SSP 7,500,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and a retirement savings plan.
