Job Overview
The Renewable Energy Project Finance Manager will lead the financial planning, modeling, and execution of BP’s renewable energy projects in Nigeria. This role involves close collaboration with project development, engineering, legal, and commercial teams to secure financing, manage risk, and ensure profitable project delivery. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed financial models for solar, wind, and hybrid renewable projects, incorporating capital expenditures, operating costs, revenue streams, and tax incentives.
- Lead the preparation of financing proposals, term sheets, and loan documentation for banks, development finance institutions, and private equity partners.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments, sensitivity analyses, and scenario planning to support investment decisions.
- Coordinate with legal and regulatory teams to ensure compliance with Nigerian energy regulations, tax codes, and environmental standards.
- Monitor project cash flows, debt service coverage ratios, and covenant compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Present financial findings and recommendations to senior leadership, board members, and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the Business Development team to evaluate new project opportunities and assess their financial viability.
- Support the preparation of internal and external reporting packages, including ESG metrics and sustainability disclosures.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in financial modeling software (Excel, VBA) and familiarity with project finance platforms such as PPM or Bloomberg.
- Strong understanding of renewable energy market dynamics, power purchase agreements (PPAs), and regulatory frameworks in Nigeria.
- Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
- Analytical mindset with the capacity to interpret complex financial data and translate it into actionable insights.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for presenting to senior executives and external partners.
- Ability to work independently and lead cross‑functional teams in a fast‑paced environment.
Education
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related discipline is required. Candidates with an MBA, CFA, or relevant postgraduate qualification are highly preferred.
Experience
