Job Overview
The Sustainability Chemistry Analyst will join the Research & Development department to lead analytical projects focused on reducing environmental impact of BASF’s product portfolio. The incumbent will design, execute, and interpret experiments that assess lifecycle emissions, waste reduction, and resource efficiency. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement analytical methods to evaluate the environmental footprint of chemical products.
- Conduct lifecycle assessments (LCA) and generate sustainability reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with product development teams to integrate eco‑design principles into new formulations.
- Monitor regulatory changes related to chemical safety and sustainability, ensuring compliance.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior management and external partners.
- Support the creation of sustainability training materials for R&D staff.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of analytical chemistry techniques (GC, HPLC, MS, etc.).
- Proficiency in LCA software such as SimaPro or GaBi.
- Excellent data analysis and statistical interpretation abilities.
- Effective communication skills for presenting complex data to non‑technical audiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Project management experience with a focus on sustainability initiatives.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or a closely related discipline is required. A master’s degree or relevant certifications in sustainability, green chemistry, or life‑cycle assessment are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage.
Experience
Candidates should have 3‑5 years of hands‑on experience in chemical analysis, product sustainability assessment, or related research roles. Experience within the chemicals industry or a strong background in environmental compliance will be viewed favorably.
Salary
