Job Overview
The Renewable Energy Project Finance Analyst will support the structuring, evaluation, and execution of financing for large‑scale renewable projects in Nigeria and the broader West African region. Working closely with project development, legal, and senior finance teams, the analyst will conduct financial modeling, risk assessment, and due‑diligence to secure funding from commercial banks, development finance institutions, and private investors. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed financial models for wind, solar, and hydro projects, incorporating capital expenditures, operating costs, revenue streams, and financing structures.
- Prepare comprehensive investment memoranda, cash‑flow analyses, and sensitivity studies for internal review and external investors.
- Coordinate due‑diligence activities, gathering data from engineering, legal, and environmental teams to assess project viability.
- Engage with banks, multilateral development agencies, and private equity partners to negotiate loan terms, equity stakes, and risk‑sharing mechanisms.
- Monitor project financial performance post‑financial close, tracking key metrics, covenant compliance, and variance analysis.
- Support the preparation of regulatory filings and compliance reports required by Nigerian authorities and international financing bodies.
- Collaborate with the Business Development team to evaluate new project opportunities and assess market trends in the renewable sector.
- Provide regular updates to senior management on financing status, risk exposure, and mitigation strategies.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in financial modeling using Excel or specialized software (e.g., @RISK, PVSyst).
- Strong analytical abilities with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports and presenting to stakeholders.
- Knowledge of renewable energy technologies, project development cycles, and Nigerian energy regulations.
- Negotiation and relationship‑building skills with financial institutions and investors.
- Ability to work independently and as part of cross‑functional teams in a fast‑paced environment.
Education
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree (MBA or MSc in Finance) or professional certifications such as CFA or CPA are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.
Experience
Candidates must have 5‑7 years of relevant experience in project finance, preferably within the renewable energy sector or infrastructure projects. Prior exposure to financing large‑scale power projects in emerging markets, especially in Africa, will be viewed favorably.
