Job Overview

The Artificial Intelligence Ethics Officer will lead the development and implementation of ethical frameworks for AI products and services deployed by Google Nigeria. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and update AI ethics policies, guidelines, and standards in line with international best practices.
• Conduct comprehensive ethical risk assessments for AI models, datasets, and deployment scenarios.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and data scientists to integrate ethical considerations into design and development phases.
• Provide expert advice on regulatory compliance, including Nigeria’s Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) and emerging AI legislation.
• Lead internal workshops and training sessions to raise awareness of AI ethics across the organization.
• Monitor global AI ethics trends, research, and standards to continuously improve Google Nigeria’s ethical framework.
• Engage with external stakeholders, including academia, civil society, and government bodies, to gather feedback and foster transparent dialogue.
• Prepare detailed reports and documentation for senior leadership and regulatory bodies.

Required Skills

• Deep understanding of AI technologies, machine learning pipelines, and data governance.
• Strong knowledge of ethical principles such as fairness, accountability, transparency, and privacy.
• Excellent analytical and critical‑thinking abilities to evaluate complex AI systems.

Education

Experience

Minimum of five years of professional experience in AI ethics, technology policy, compliance, or a related field. Experience within a multinational technology company or a research institution is preferred.

Salary
