Job Overview

This role involves leading technical assessments and developing strategies to combat coastal erosion along Nigeria’s vulnerable shoreline. The specialist will collaborate with local authorities, environmental agencies, and international stakeholders to implement sustainable mitigation projects. The position emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration, data-driven decision-making, and community engagement to ensure long-term ecological and economic benefits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct field surveys and geospatial analysis to assess coastal erosion patterns.
  • Design and implement erosion control measures such as seawalls, mangrove restoration, and sediment management systems.
  • Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and environmental impact assessments.
  • Coordinate with local communities to raise awareness about coastal conservation practices.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in GIS and remote sensing tools for coastal mapping.
  • Experience in environmental impact assessment and project management.
