Job Overview
The Downstream Operations Analyst will support the planning, monitoring, and optimization of refinery and distribution activities. The analyst will work closely with engineering, supply chain, and commercial teams to ensure efficient processing, product quality, and timely delivery to customers across Nigeria. This position plays a pivotal role in translating data insights into actionable strategies that enhance operational performance, reduce costs, and uphold safety and environmental standards. The role is based in Lagos and reports to the Downstream Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities
- Collect, validate, and analyze operational data from refinery units, pipelines, and storage facilities.
- Develop performance dashboards and KPI reports to track throughput, yield, and product quality.
- Identify bottlenecks and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Collaborate with supply chain planners to align production schedules with market demand and inventory targets.
- Support incident investigations by providing data‑driven insights and root‑cause analysis.
- Prepare monthly operational performance summaries for senior management.
- Ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements and internal safety standards.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, Power BI, or similar data visualization tools.
- Understanding of downstream oil and gas processes, including refining, storage, and distribution.
- Excellent communication skills for presenting findings to technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Problem‑solving mindset with ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of Nigerian oil & gas regulations and industry best practices.
- Team player with collaborative attitude across multidisciplinary teams.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as PMP, Six Sigma, or a relevant industry qualification are advantageous.
Experience
Applicants should have 3‑5 years of experience in downstream operations, process analysis, or a similar analytical role within the oil and gas sector. Experience with refinery optimization projects or supply chain coordination is highly valued.
Salary
The competitive salary range for this position is SSP 2,500,000 to SSP 4,000,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and allowances may be applicable.
