Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive strategies for Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure deployment across EKEDC’s service areas.
  • Design and engineer various EV charging solutions, including AC (Level 2) and DC (Level 3) fast chargers, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
  • Conduct thorough site assessments and feasibility studies for potential charging station locations, considering grid capacity and user accessibility.
  • Ensure all EV charging installations and operations comply with national and international electrical codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal departments, government agencies, EV manufacturers, and other external stakeholders to facilitate project execution.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources efficiently, from conceptualization to commissioning of charging stations.
  • Provide expert technical support and troubleshooting for EV charging infrastructure, resolving issues promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in EV technology, charging standards, and renewable energy integration to inform strategic decisions.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for all EV charging infrastructure projects, including designs, specifications, and operational procedures.

Required Skills

  • Strong foundational knowledge of electrical power systems, grid integration, and distribution networks.
  • Proficiency in EV charging communication protocols such as OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol) and ISO 15118.
  • Demonstrated experience with renewable energy integration projects and energy storage systems.
  • Proven project management skills, including planning, execution, and monitoring of complex infrastructure projects.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to address technical challenges and optimize system performance.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
  • Familiarity with Nigerian electrical codes, regulations, and relevant environmental policies.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
  • Competency in relevant software tools for electrical design and project management.

Education

A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a closely related technical field is required. A Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline will be a significant advantage.

Experience

A minimum of 5-8 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, power distribution, renewable energy projects, or specifically in Electric Vehicle charging infrastructure development and deployment. Experience in a utility company or a related energy sector is highly desirable.
