Job Purpose

To support the Country Pharmacist in managing pharmacy operations, ensuring availability and proper use of medicines, maintaining stock integrity, and complying with INTERSOS guidelines and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Pharmacy Operations & Stock Management
Support overall pharmacy functioning and ensure availability of medicines
Manage storage conditions (temperature, humidity, hygiene, security)
Ensure proper stock levels to avoid stock-outs and expiries
Maintain accurate inventory records and stock tracking systems

Procurement & Supply Chain
Assist in forecasting, budgeting, and procurement of drugs and medical supplies
Support supplier coordination and ensure purchases from approved sources
Monitor supply chain efficiency and take corrective actions where needed

Compliance & Quality Assurance
Ensure adherence to INTERSOS SOPs and national pharmaceutical regulations
Support safe handling, storage, and disposal of medicines
Maintain traceability of narcotic and psychotropic drugs
Ensure pharmacovigilance and report drug quality issues

Monitoring, Reporting & Data Management
Collect and analyze data on drug consumption and distribution
Maintain both physical and digital records (Excel, IMS systems)
Support reporting on stock levels, consumption trends, and anomalies
Assist in monitoring epidemiological trends based on drug usage

Field Support & Coordination
Conduct field visits to monitor pharmacy activities
Support emergency preparedness and medical kit management
Collaborate with logistics, medical, finance, and HR teams
Assist in training staff on proper pharmacy practices

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (BPharm or PharmD)
Valid registration with the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria

Experience

Minimum 2 years of experience in hospital or pharmacy management
Previous NGO experience is an added advantage

Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical management and stock control
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Internet)
Good organizational and data management skills
Strong attention to detail and quality assurance
Ability to work independently and proactively
Strong teamwork and communication skills
