INTERSOS is seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Pharmacy Assistant / Pharmacy Store Officer to support pharmacy operations and medical supply chain activities across its humanitarian programs in Nigeria. This position plays an essential role in ensuring the effective stock management of medicines, medical consumables, and pharmaceutical equipment while maintaining high-quality pharmaceutical standards in humanitarian settings.

Job Purpose
The Pharmacy Assistant will work under the supervision of the Pharmacy Officer and Country Pharmacist to support the efficient functioning of INTERSOS pharmacy systems. The role is responsible for maintaining accurate stock management, ensuring safe pharmaceutical storage, supporting medical supply distribution, and maintaining proper inventory documentation.
The successful candidate will help ensure uninterrupted access to medicines and healthcare supplies for humanitarian interventions while adhering to pharmaceutical regulations, INTERSOS procedures, and international humanitarian standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Stock Management & Pharmacy Operations
- Ensure proper storage, organization, and handling of medicines and medical supplies according to INTERSOS pharmaceutical standards.
- Monitor pharmacy environmental conditions including temperature, humidity, and refrigeration systems twice daily.
- Conduct quality checks for all received pharmaceutical products and immediately report any non-compliance issues.
- Maintain updated stock records and inventory systems to ensure accurate reporting of stock quantity and value.
- Quarantine damaged, expired, or non-compliant medicines according to standard procedures.
- Participate in monthly physical stock inventories and reconcile discrepancies with supervisors.
- Maintain stock cards, inventory records, and computerized management systems.
2. Supply Chain & Distribution Management
- Coordinate with Pharmacy Officers and Logistics teams to ensure timely supply and distribution of medicines to project sites.
- Prepare orders for field bases, supported health facilities, donations, loans, and exchanges.
- Support emergency preparedness activities including maintenance of emergency medical kits.
- Organize medicine transportation schedules in collaboration with logistics teams.
- Ensure waste management and pharmaceutical disposal processes comply with INTERSOS SOPs and legal regulations.

3. Documentation & Inventory Control
- Maintain accurate Goods Received Notes (GRN) and ensure timely reporting of deliveries.
- Ensure proper filing, classification, and archiving of pharmacy-related documentation.
- Keep the Inventory Management System (IMS) updated as directed by supervisors.
- Conduct monthly backups of all pharmacy data and records.
- Submit monthly pharmacy activity reports to the Pharmacy Officer.
4. Reporting & Compliance
- Participate in annual pharmacy activity planning.
- Provide regular updates and reports requested by the Country Pharmacist.
- Ensure compliance with INTERSOS pharmacy protocols, inventory standards, and quality assurance measures.
- Support accountability and transparency in pharmaceutical operations.
Education Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Health Sciences, Pharmacy Technology, Public Health, or related healthcare fields is desirable.
- Additional pharmacy-related certifications are an added advantage.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of previous experience in pharmacy, healthcare supply chain, medical warehouse management, or pharmaceutical operations is preferred.
- Prior experience in NGO or humanitarian environments is an advantage.
- Experience in stock management and medical inventory systems is desirable.

- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and internet applications.
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical inventory management and warehouse operations.
