Job Overview
The Smart Grid Solutions Architect will lead the design, integration, and deployment of advanced grid technologies that enable real‑time monitoring, demand response, and automated fault management. Key Responsibilities
- Design end‑to‑end smart grid architectures, including advanced metering infrastructure, distribution automation, and energy management systems.
- Collaborate with utility partners, OEMs, and software vendors to integrate hardware and software components.
- Develop technical specifications, functional designs, and implementation roadmaps aligned with business objectives.
- Lead proof‑of‑concept pilots and pilot deployments, evaluating performance metrics and scalability.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering teams, ensuring best practices in system integration.
- Conduct feasibility studies, cost‑benefit analyses, and risk assessments for proposed solutions.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies such as IoT, AI‑driven analytics, and blockchain for energy trading.
- Prepare detailed documentation, reports, and presentations for senior management and stakeholders.
Required Skills
- Deep knowledge of power system engineering, SCADA, IEC 61850, and DNP3 protocols.
- Proficiency in grid simulation tools (e.g., PowerFactory, DigSILENT) and data analytics platforms.
- Strong project management abilities with experience delivering complex, multi‑disciplinary projects.
- Excellent communication skills for interfacing with clients, regulators, and internal teams.
- Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions while maintaining cost efficiency.
- Familiarity with Nigerian energy regulations and utility standards.
Education
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as IEC 61850, PMP, or Cisco CCNP are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.
Experience
Applicants must have 5‑7 years of hands‑on experience in smart grid projects, power system design, or related fields. Experience working with Nigerian utilities or in the West African energy sector will be viewed favorably.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from NGN 3,000,000 to NGN 5,000,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses and other incentives.
