The Freight Forwarding Operations Manager will lead the end‑to‑end management of air, sea, and road freight operations in the Ibadan region. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily freight forwarding activities, ensuring on‑time shipment execution and compliance with local regulations.
• Manage relationships with airlines, ocean carriers, trucking partners, and customs brokers to optimize transit times and costs.
• Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) that enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
• Lead a team of supervisors, coordinators, and support staff, providing coaching, performance feedback, and career development.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on‑time delivery, cost per shipment, and incident resolution, reporting results to senior management.
• Coordinate with the sales and customer service departments to translate client requirements into actionable operational plans.
• Ensure adherence to safety, security, and environmental standards in line with DHL’s sustainability goals.
• Handle escalated customer issues, conduct root‑cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Prepare operational budgets, forecast resource needs, and manage expense control.
• Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and technology advancements to maintain competitive advantage.

Required Skills

• Strong leadership and people management abilities.
• In‑depth knowledge of freight forwarding processes, Incoterms, and customs regulations.

• Proficiency in logistics software (e.g., SAP TM, CargoWise) and Microsoft Office Suite.

• Fluency in English; knowledge of Yoruba is an advantage.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, International Trade, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as FIATA, IATA, or Certified International Trade Professional (CITP) are highly desirable.

Experience

Applicants must have 5‑7 years of progressive experience in freight forwarding, logistics operations, or supply chain management, with at least two years in a supervisory or managerial capacity. Experience within a multinational logistics firm or exposure to the Nigerian regulatory environment will be considered a strong asset.

Salary
