Job Overview

The Freight Forwarding Operations Manager will lead the day‑to‑day management of freight forwarding activities at DHL’s Lagos hub. Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate all freight forwarding operations, including air, ocean, and road shipments, ensuring on‑time delivery and cost control.
• Develop and implement operational SOPs, compliance frameworks, and performance metrics aligned with DHL’s global standards.
• Lead a team of supervisors, coordinators, and support staff, providing coaching, performance feedback, and career development.
• Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to design customized logistics solutions that meet client requirements and regulatory obligations.
• Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as transit time, on‑time delivery, and cost per shipment, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Oversee customs clearance processes, ensuring accurate documentation, tariff classification, and adherence to Nigerian customs regulations.
• Utilize DHL’s digital platforms and data analytics tools to optimize routing, capacity planning, and inventory management.
• Maintain strong relationships with carriers, agents, and local authorities to negotiate rates, resolve issues, and ensure service reliability.
• Ensure health, safety, and security standards are met across all operational activities, conducting regular audits and risk assessments.
• Prepare and present operational reports to senior management, highlighting achievements, challenges, and strategic recommendations.

Salary
