Job Overview
The Quality Assurance Manager will lead the QA function for the Enugu brewery, ensuring that all products meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Reporting directly to the Regional QA Director, you will oversee a team of QA specialists, coordinate with production, R&D, and supply chain departments, and drive continuous improvement initiatives that align with corporate goals. This role is pivotal in safeguarding brand reputation, minimizing product recalls, and supporting the company’s mission of delivering premium beverages to the Nigerian market.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive quality management systems (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001, HACCP, and local regulatory requirements.
- Lead internal and external audits, ensuring corrective actions are identified, tracked, and closed effectively.
- Supervise daily quality control activities, including raw material inspection, in‑process monitoring, and finished‑goods testing.
- Collaborate with R&D to validate new product formulations and ensure seamless scale‑up from pilot to full production.
- Analyze quality data, generate trend reports, and drive root‑cause investigations to reduce variability and waste.
- Mentor and train QA staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
- Coordinate with regulatory affairs to ensure compliance with NAFDAC, SON, and international export standards.
- Support sustainability initiatives by implementing waste‑reduction and water‑conservation programs within the QA framework.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards, HACCP, ISO 22000, and GMP.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis tools (Minitab, SPSS) and quality improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma or Lean.
- Excellent leadership and team‑management capabilities.
- Effective communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.
- Ability to interpret and apply Nigerian food regulations and international export requirements.
- Problem‑solving mindset with a data‑driven approach.
- Familiarity with ERP and QMS software (e.g., SAP QM, TrackWise).
Education
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified HACCP Practitioner, or Six Sigma Green Belt are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.
Experience
Candidates must possess at least five years of progressive experience in quality assurance within the food and beverage manufacturing sector, with a proven track record of leading teams and managing complex quality systems. Experience in a multinational environment and exposure to export markets will be viewed favorably.
Salary
The successful applicant will receive a competitive annual salary ranging from SSP 2,500,000 to SSP 3,500,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition, a performance‑based bonus structure and comprehensive benefits package are offered.
